Heroes and Betrayers – Pisa
Tour in the quarter of San Martino: a guide will show us some of the most beautiful palaces and sights, from which we can still read the traces of the past. The entrance into the garden that overlooks the river Arno will in troduce the figure of the Count Ugolino della Gerardesca, that took the Republic to the decline in the 13th century. The stroll will continue through the narrow streets of the quarter, formerly called Kinzica, whose name is the same of a Pisan Heroin who saved the city from the night attack of a horde of Saracens in the early 11th century. She will tell us her story.
